BIOGRAPHICAL
(Source - Jerry Shepard):
"Elizabeth Metcalf Campbell was the second wife of Frederic Lockley. They married in Schuylerville, New York, February 28, 1861. She was the mother of 5 children, two who died in infancy. Elizabeth had a unique role in this marriage. Frederic was often moving from place to place. He would leave home wherever it was and move to the next "calling" to establish himself on a new newspaper. Meanwhile Elizabeth stayed home and raised and took care of the children and the household. When Frederic felt secure enough in his new position, he would write Elizabeth to come and join him. This usually involved her selling the house, selling some of her furniture, packing, buying tickets and heading off for a new life in a strange new environment. All this she usually had to do on her own. Sometimes the interval between Frederic taking off looking for a position and the time Elizabeth and family joined him would be several weeks to several months".
