OBITUARY: 
James S. Byrne died at the residence on route nine October 3, aged 85 years; father of Mrs. W. R. Powers and Mrs. Elmer R. McAllister of Salem; grandfather of Ruth and Janet McAllister of Salem and Barbara Byrne of Vale. Funeral services Monday, October 6 at 2 p.m. from the W. T. Rigdon and Son mortuary. Rev. W. Earl Cochran, officiating. Interment I.O.O.F. cemetery.
