DEATH CERTIFICATE: OSBH DC [Marion 1944] #439 states Martha Carden was born in Tyler Co., W. Va. On Mar. 6, 1859, daughter of William Pierpont and Elizabeth Wells. She was 84 years, 9 months of age, the widow of David Carden. Informant was Mrs. Viola Rosenbaum, Salem.

OBITUARY: At her home, 1855 Berry street, Wednesday, December 6, Mrs. Martha Carden. Survived by five daughters, Mrs. Angie Thomas of Lebanon, Mrs. Mary Shirley [DeShirlia] and Mrs. Nell Roley, both of Portland, and Mrs. Viola Rosenbaum and Mrs. Sarah Vinson of Salem; two sons, Will Carden of Oregon Coity and Fred Carden of Gladstone, Ore., and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 9 from the Clough-Barrick chapel, with Rev. Clay Pomeroy officiating. Interment in IOOF cemetery.
