1900 OR CENSUS - Nellie Carlton, age 24, b. Sep 1875 in Iowa, is enumerated with father William, age 55, occupation farm laborer, b. Canada, and his wife of 30 years, Jennie, age 48, mother of 4 children 3 of whom are living at the time of census, b. Jan 1852 in Canada, along with Clyde, age 18, b. Aug 1881 in Iowa, and Mai, age 15, b. Aug 1884 in Iowa.

OBITUARY: 
At the family home on Commercial street, in North Salem, Oregon, Friday, July 12, 1901, at 8:20 p.m., Miss Nellie A. Carlton, aged 24 years, of typhoid and brain fever.
Deceased was a native of Storey county, Iowa, and came with her parents to Oregon a number of years ago. She had worked hard to prepare herself for the duties of school teaching, and recently passed the examination for a certificate. From the effects of the close application to her work she became ill, taking to her bed on July 3d. growing rapidly worse until she passed away as indicated above. Deceased was a consistent member of the First Baptist church in this city, and stood high in religious and social circles. She leaves a father, mother, brother, sister and a host of warm friends to mourn her sad demise. The funeral will be held at the First Baptist church tomorrow (Sunday), July 14th.
