OBITUARY: 
At the family home 7 miles east of Salem on the Jefferson road, Monday Dec. 12, 1898. E. J. Chambers, aged 71 years, 11 months and 10 days, of paralysis. The funeral will be held Wednesday Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the Odd Fellow’s cemetery of this city.

E. J. Chambers died at his home seven miles south of this city, on the Salem-Jefferson road, Monday morning December 12, 1898 of paralysis, aged 71 years, 11 months and 10 days. Deceased was an old pioneer and a widow survives him.  He was an uncle of William Chambers of Portland.
Funeral services will be conducted from the home at 2 o'clock this afternoon, Rev. W. C. Kantner officiating. Interment will take place in Rural cemetery.
