OBITUARY: Mrs. Mary A. Anderson, a well known and highly respected resident of this county, died at her late home two miles west of Salem, of asthma and heart failure. Deceased was 71 years old. She was a native of Maine, having been born in Bangor, that state, January 2, 1834. She was first married to James Moore, to which union one child was born, a daughter, Mrs. Flora A. Reed, now living in Oakland, Cal. After the death of Mr. Moore, deceased moved to Pache, Mo., where, in 1863, she married C. F. Anderson, who survives her. One child, a boy, Fred Anderson, was the fruit of that marriage. In 1885, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson moved to Polk county, where they have resided ever since. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the home, and burial was in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
