OBITUARY: EARLY PIONEER GOES TO FINAL REWARD.
MRS. E. J. CORNELL DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS AT HOME ON COURT STREET.
At her home in Salem, Oregon, 224 Court street, March 25, 1911, Mrs. E. J. Cornell, aged 76 years. Mrs. E. J. Cornell was born in Arkansas in 1835. Her parents soon moved to Missouri, and in 1843 they came across the plains, making the long and perilous journey in six months. Her father, T. D. Kaiser, settled near Salem, and in Salem, the greater part of her life was spent.
She was married in 1857 to Hayden Cornell, and to this union six children were born. Her husband and four children have preceeded her, and two sons, Thomas B., of Grants Pass, and Shelley H. of Salem, are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, whose every thought was for those she loved. She was a woman of strong personality and numbered her friends by the score. She will be missed but not forgotten.
