OBITUARY: BURIED IN SALEM. Remains of Frank Crawford Given Interment in Rural Cemetery Yesterday Afternoon. The remains of Frank Crawford, son of Mayor and Mrs. J.W. Crawford, of Corvallis, arrived in Salem on the Roseburg mail yesterday afternoon and at 7 o’clock last evening were given interment in the family lost in Rural cemetery. The deceased was 21 years, 8 months, and 4 days old. A brief funeral service was held at the family home in Corvallis yesterday morning, conducted by E.J. Thompson, D.D., at the conclusion of which the body was taken in charge by the members of Valley Lodge, No. 11, Knights of Pythias, to which the deceased belonged, having become a member only last February. The funeral party boarded a special car and started for this city. It was intended to have the procession form at the depot and march thence to the cemetery but owing to an unfortunate mistake that occurred in locating the grave, the burial was necessarily deferred until 7 o’clock in the evening. The funeral party was met at the depot by the members of Central Lodge No. 18, K. of P., of this city, and many of the friends of the bereaved family. The body was taken to Central castle, in the State Insurance building, where it was attended until 7 o’clock when the procession to the cemetery was formed. At the graveside the impressive funeral service of the Knights of Pythias was presented by the Corvallis Knights, and the body was interred. The floral tributes were many and of beautiful designs, bespeaking the popularity of the deceased among a large circle of acquaintances. The grave itself was literally buried with flowers. The body was accompanied to Salem by the family, consisting of Mayor and Mrs. Crawford, Misses Emma and Mamie Crawford, and Ed. Crawford. The following friends of the family also came on the same car: Dr. E.J. Thompson, Mrs. J.A. Spangler, Miss Lulu Spangler, Miss Eda Jacobs, Miss Helen Holgate, Raymond Hinkle, S.N. Wilkins, B.F. Burnett, and Mrs. Taylor Porter. Thirty-four members of Valley Lodge; No. 11, K. of P., in which the deceased held membership escorted the remains to Salem. They were: Jesse Spencer, Thos. Whitehorn, E. H. Smith, D.A. Osburn, Moses Craig, E.H. Beach, Emil Zeis, U.B. Vogle, Lee Hill, Bowen Lester, James Horning, W.D. Prichard, Chas. G. Porter, Will Horning, E.P. Griffoz, J.M. Porter, Joe Smith, Asa Alexander, D.D. Berman, Geo. Bowers, F.L. Miller, B.W. Johnson, G.H. Barringer, J.R. Cooley, Walter Keady, J.F. Yates, J.H. Gibson, T.H. Davis, M.P. Burnett, N.L. Raber, Geo. W. Denman, A.W. Rose, E.R. Bryson, and Robert Johnson. The party returned to Corvallis in the special car attached to the overland train last evening.
