OBITUARY: 

CROSS--In Portland on Saturday, October 28, 1893, Mrs. Kate M. Cross. The deceased was the oldest daughter of "Father" Schwatka, who died in Salem a few years ago, and was well known to the people of Salem. She was the sister of Mrs. T. H. Reynolds of Portland; Augustus C. Schwatka, now a printer in San Francisco; Mrs. J. D. Jordan of Salem; and of the Arctic explorer, the late Lieut. Frederick Schwatka. 
She resided in Salem during most of her life spent in Oregon and was for many years one of the leading milliners. The remains will be brought to this city on the 11:17 a.m. train today and interment will be had in Rural cemetery beside the remains of her parents. Rev. J. Bowersox will conduct the services.
