1880 Census - John Dancy, age 40, b. England, occupation carpenter, is enumerated with M. A. Dancy, age 39, b. England, along with children Adeline, age 16, b. England, and Henry, age 12, b. England, and Leonard, age 9, b. Oregon. BIOGRAPHICAL: 
John Dancy married (2nd) Tamar - have included the following newspaper notices, obituary and DC information: 
DANCY -- Pioneer Woman Passes Beyond. Mrs. John Dancy dies at Age of 73. Husband is Seriously ill. Salem lost an old and respected citizen Thursday when Mrs. John Dancy of 1343 South Commercial street, gave up this life at the age of 73 years. She was born in Riegate, England, June 16, 1850. She married Leonard O. Simmons in November, 1873, and came to Salem as a bride early in 1874. Mr. Simmons died in 1903, 30 years after their marriage. In 1905 she married John Dancy, and they have lived here ever since. Mrs. Dancy leaves, besides her husband, several nieces in England, and two nephews, Allen A. Simmons of Eugene and W. H. Dancy of Salem. The funeral is to be held Saturday, April 14 from the Leslie Methodist church at 2:30 o’clock. Mr. Dancy, her husband, who is 84 years of age, is seriously ill and his life is despaired of. Mr. Dancy came to Salem in 1868, 55 years ago. His first wife died in 1902, and in 1905 he married Mrs. Simmons. Mr. Dancy was one of the pioneer planing mill men of Salem.

HUSBAND FOLLOWS WIFE TO GRAVE.
Funeral of Mrs. Dancy is Today and Mr. Dancy Monday Afternoon 
Mr. and Mrs. John Dancy, both pioneer residents of Salem, died within 24 hours of each other--Mr. Dancy dying yesterday morning, while Mrs. Dancy died Thursday night. 
Both Mr. and Mrs. Dancy had been married twice and Mrs. Dancy will be laid to rest this afternoon in the City View cemetery beside her first husband, Leonard O. Simmons. Mrs. Dancy's funeral will be held from the Leslie Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock. 
Mr. Dancy was born in England March 1, 1840. He was married to May Anne Simmons, a sister of Leonard O. Simmons, in 1864 and they came directly to the United States, settling in Oregon where Mr. Dancy has lived ever since. They had two children who survive, W. H. Dancy of Salem and Mrs. D. W. Eberlin of Spokane. The first wife died in 1899. Besides the son and daughter, Mr. Dancy is survived by two brothers and two sisters, who live in England. A nephew, Allan Simmons resides in Eugene. 
The funeral of Mr. Dancy will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from St. Paul's Episcopal church. The services will be in charge of Salem lodge No. 4. A.F. & A. M. Mr. Dancy was next to the oldest living members of the local lodge and was the oldest member who had joined here.
