OBITUARY: 
DAVIS --At his home in South Salem, Wednesday, July 15, 1891, at 12 o’clock m., Thomas (sic) Davis, aged 77 years. 
Mr. Davis had not been in good health since the death of his wife, about a year ago, and about a month ago he grew worse and died yesterday, from what is pronounced catarrh of the stomach. 
Deceased was born in Kentucky in the year 1814 and lived there a number of years, moving from there to Verdon, Illinois, where he was married to Miss Caywood. After her death he was married to Miss Blevins. In 1879 he removed to Oregon, coming direct to Salem, where he bought the place on which he died. 
He was quite well known here and was an honest, industrious man. He has been a member of the Christian church for a number of years. He leaves seven children by his first wife: Thomas, and Mrs. Dixon, of Howell prairie; Benjamin, living at Pendleton; Mrs. Frank Sanders, Yew park; besides two daughters in Illinois and a son, Charles, who lived with him. His aged sister, Julia Cummons [Cummings], also lived with him and survives him. The funeral services will be conducted at the house in South Salem at 2 p.m. today and the remains will be buried in Rural cemetery.
