OBITUARY: PIONEER PASSES TO LAST SLEEP.
JAMES B. DAY DIED AFTER LONG ILLNESS.
WAS MANY YEARS RESIDENT OF OREGON.
After an illness dating back several years, James B. Day passed away yesterday at 1 o'clock at the family home at B and Berry streets. Mr. Day had reached the ripe old age of 77 years, and until stricken with his last illness, had been an active man of affairs. Bright's disease was the cause of death, and while his health had failed steadily for sometime, he has only been critically ill for the past four weeks. He was an early pioneer, coming to Oregon as a boy and residing here continuously ever since, for the past 18 years being at Salem and Portland. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Frank M. Day, North Yakima, Washington; Mrs. Minnie Stafford, St. Cloud, Minnesota; Will Day, Pacific Grove, California; and Fred, George A., and Jean Day, of Salem. The funeral will be held today from W. T. Rigdon's parlors on Court street at 3 o'clock, and interment will be made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. G. A. and J. F. Day are proprietors of The Sunset Grocery which will be closed today.
