BIOGRAPHICAL:

CHURCH FETES OLD MEMBER (photo accompanies article)
One of the oldest persons in the Salem First Methodist church from the point of membership, proved to be J. D. McCulley, 85 years of age, who joined the church in 1870. In his 71 years of service, McCulley saw, as the principal change, the erection of the present spire-topped, brick church edifice, replacing the old wooden church, shortly after he joined. The majority of preachers who have served First church, which this week celebrates its organization centennial, were there while McCulley was a member, Dr. J. C. Harrison, pastor, stated. At the dinner opening the observance Thursday night, the wedding gown worn by Mrs. McCulley when they were married in 1880 was modeled by their daughter.
