Heirs: Susan Ekin, widow, age 50; Eliza Rankin, age 28; Mary Rankin, age 24 [not listed in 1880 petition]; Sarah Tracy, age 22; Wm. C. Ekin, age 18; Charles H. Ekin, age 15; Margaret Ekin, age 12; Jane Ekin, age 8; Reuben H. Ekin, age 2 -- all of Marion County. Bertie and Josephine Rankin, both under 14, are listed in May 1880.

1880 OR CENSUS - Susan I. Ekin, age 50, widow, farmer, born in Oregon (both parents born in Oregon) is enumerated with 5 children, Wm. (19), Charles (18), Margaret (17), Jane (15) and Reuben (3); Rigdon - Mrs. Susan Elkin, Indian, d. 21 Oct. 1911, age 80, at Poor Farm, funeral ordered by sons, C. H. Elkin, R. H. Elkin, Kaiser Mark Skiff, J. D. (Janson?) Boring Jansrud.
BIOGRAPHICAL: 
Granddaughter, Mabel Ekin Bolger remembers that "she was told that her Indian grandmother Susan, was reputedly born in the Klamathy country and adopted and brought to the Salem area by a white family named Evans. Susan & Richard had nine children, at least five of whom died in childhood. She died in 1911 at age 84."

OBITUARY: 
Mrs. Susan Ekin, age 80 years, died on North Front street Friday evening, October 21, 1911. The funeral will be held from Rigdon’s parlor at 2 o’clock this afternoon. The service will be conducted by the Rev. P.S. Knight. Interment in Odd Fellows’ cemetery.
