OBITUARY:
In Portland, Sunday, February 13, 1887 at the Good Samaritan hospital of pneumonia, George Fetzer, aged 18 years. George Fetzer was well known in Salem where he resided for a number of years.
His death occasions much sorrow among the officers, inmates, and employees of the hospital. He was an orphan, and went to the Good Samaritan four years ago, a cripple from spinal trouble and since that time has known no other home. He passed time in knitting an doing other fancy work with the needle, and will be remembered by many who saw him at his stand in the mechanics’ pavilion. The children of the Flower Mission were particularly interested in him, and regularly sent him little bouquets of roses, which he loved and which cheered him. His gentle nature and the patience with which he bore his affliction called forth the warmest sympathy from those who knew him, while by the family circle at the hospital he was loved as one bound by ties of blood.
The remains will be brought to Salem today, for burial. The funeral will take place from the Presbyterian church, at 1 o’clock. Rev. H. A. Newell will conduct the services.
