OBITUARY:

Graveside services were held Thursday at Salem Pioneer Cemetery for L. Rea Greene, 97, Oregon pioneer and longtime resident of Lincoln, who died Monday at his home in Washington. Born in Columbus, Ohio, he came to Oregon with his family in 1873. His father was in the general merchandise business in Brooks and Portland for 12 years, then bought a farm near Lincoln, north of West Salem in Polk County. Rea Green attended schools in Portland and Lincoln, and took a business course at Willamette University. He was an assistant cashier at the old First National bank in Salem and later grew fruit and hops at the Lincoln farm. After selling out, he moved to Bellingham, Wash, where he was with a wholesale grocery company until retirement. His wife died in 1948. She was the former Lois Abrams, sister of the late Col Carle Abrams, veteran of the Spanish-American war. Survivors include son Lew A. Greene, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, all living near Bedford, NY.
