DEATH CERTIFICATE:
OBITUARY:
At her residence, No. 456 Front street, Salem, Oregon, at 7:17 o'clock p.m., Monday, Feb. 10, 1890, of consumption, Sarah Cornelia, wife of P. H. Hatch.
Deceased was well known throughout the northern and western part of the state, where she has resided since 1846, she having crossed the plains that year with her father's family from Wisconsin, and the news of her demise will bring deep regret to many old timers, as well as new citizens of the state.
The daughter of Dr. A. R. T. Losey, Mrs. Hatch was born in Gratiot's Grove, Wisconsin, January 16, 1829, and hence was 61 years and 25 days old. On arriving in Oregon her father settled at Oregon City, where she became the wife of P. H. Hatch on February 9, 1847, just 48 years and one day prior to her death. In 1863 Mr. Hatch moved with his family to this city, since which time occupied the house which was the scene of her death.
Mrs. Hatch leaves, besides her bereaved and grief-stricken husband, four sons, Hon. Edward T. Hatch, of McCoy; Payson H. Hatch, of Portland; Herbert L. Hatch and Geo. E. Hatch, of this city, two daughters, Mrs. Addie H. Farrar, wife of Jno. F. Farrar, and Mrs. Alice H. Manning, wife of Isaac A. Manning, and a brother, Cyrus T. Losey, who resides at Malheur, Malheur county.
Mrs. Hatch has ever been identified with good works and good deeds in this city, and at Oregon City, where she first became a member of the Congregational church in 1857. Her life has been that of a conscientous christian woman and much good that she has done will live after her. Since her residence in Salem, Mrs. Hatch has been a hard and steady worker in the Congregational church, where she will be sadly missed.
The funeral will probably be conducted Wednesday afternoon.
