Turner 16 Sept 1899. Sohn S. Hawkins [Jr.] one of the heirs of the late John S. Hawkins, our father, and Elizabeth, botth now dec'd - signed by brothers: Charles Hawkins & William E. Hawkins. John Died 08 Aug 1901."

Hawkins, brother, 42, Marion Co.; Charles E. Hawkins, brother, 55, residence unknonw; Charles P. Tolles/Towles, nephew, 27, Rampart City, A. T. [Charles Towle & Mrs. Paul are brother and sister & children of dec'd sister.]"

 

[Note - brother of William E. Hawkins, who also died at the Asylum a few days after commital in 1925, William E..Hawkins was infamous in Salem for the murder of F. Harvey Ogle in 1899. See article in burial record for William, whose cremains were retrived from the Oregon State Hospital and buried in Salem Pioneer Cemetery in 2014]

At the Oregon Hospital for the Insane, Salem, Oregon, Friday, August 9, 1901, John Hawkins, aged 53 years. The remains will be interred in the Rural cemetery, at 2 p.m. today. The funeral is private.
