OBITUARY: 
PIONEER WOMAN GOES TO REST.
Mrs. Zerelda Hayden Dies at her Home Yesterday Afternoon. 
In the person of Mrs. Zerelda Gibson Hayden, who died yesterday afternoon at 5:30 at her residence on North Fifteenth street, another well known pioneer passes away. Mrs. Hayden had been ill for about five or six months and her death was not unexpected. She was 81 years of age. The pioneer woman was the wife of the late Hon. Ben Hayden, who passed away about two years ago and who was one of the best known attorneys in the state. 
Mrs. Hayden was born in Pike county, Missouri, March 21, 1831. She was married to the late Hon. Ben Hayden in 1852 and crossed the plains the same year, locating in Polk county, Oregon, where she resided for a number of years, and later removed to Salem with her family. Mrs. Hayden was an estimable woman, well known in this city and highly esteemed by many friends, especially so among the pioneers. 
The mother of a large family, she is survived by two sons, William and McClellan, both of this city. The funeral service will be held at the late residence 574 North Fifteenth street, on Monday, May 6, at 2 o’clock p.m., conducted by Rev. Barr G. Lee. Interment will be in Odd Fellows’ cemetery.

Pioneer Woman Buried Yesterday 
The funeral services of Mrs. Zerelda Hayden were held yesterday afternoon at the residence on North Fifteenth street. Reverend Barr G. Lee performing the Episcopalian rites. Mrs. Carlton Smith and Miss Myrtle Knowland sang performing the Episcopalian rites. Mrs. Carlton Smith and Miss Myrtle Knowland sang sweetly and effectively Rock of Ages, and He Leadeth Me, both expressive of the life that has just gone out, leaving many sorrowing friends and relatives. The pall-bearers were John H. Godfrey, George W. Johnson, Charles V. Galloway, Albert Southwick and Gilbert Sellwood. Interment was held in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
