Herling Death is Declared Suicide.
The death of Ben F. Herling, 38, in a barn near Turner Tuesday afternoon will go into offical records of suicide, "unless something more devolops," District attorney Lyle J. Page said yesterday afternoon. Page yesterday questioned persons who had been acquainted with Herling but found little information bearing on the case. "It is suicide in our opinion," the prosecutor stated. Rev. Guy Drill will officiate at funeral services for Herling at the Clough-Barrick mortuary at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows cemetery.

HERLING DEATH CALLED SUICIDE.
In all probability the death of Ben F. Herling, 38, found dead late Tuesday afternoon in the hay mow of his sheep barn on Turner route 2, will go down on records as a suicide, Lyle J. Page, district attorney, indicated today though he had statesments from two more persons he wished to take before closing the case. It was not believed that these would make any change in the situation.
Death was caused from two bullet wounds near the heart, both bearing powder marks. Two surgeons performed an autopsy at the Clough-Barrick mortuary last night. Their findings were that either of the two shots would have proven fatal, the second one, apparently, puncturing the heart cavity after touching the sixth frontal rib, ranging upward at a 15 degree angle and piercing through the ninth back rib. The other wound, designated as caused by the first shot fired, was three inches below the heart with the bullet ranging downward at a 15 degree angle, passing between the eighth and ninth frontal ribs, piercing the spleen and emerging through the back after nicking the 11th back rib. The first bullet wound probably wound not have caused instantaneous death, it was indicated.
Funeral services will be held from the Clough Barrick mortuary Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with Rev. Guy S. Drill officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, near the home of his father, Franklin Herling.
