Schmidt (identified as son-in-law of Wilhelmina), age 36, b. Saxony, occupation farm worker, and his wife Anna W. Schmidt, age 28, b. Saxony, with their children Alfred F. W., age 7, b. Wisconsin, Alena, age 4, b. Oregon, and Ina, age 2, b. Oregon.

Wisconsin, is enumerated with his wife of 28 years, Hannah, age 47, mother of 8 children 7 of whom are living at the time of the census, b. Wisconsin, along with Alvin, age 26, Bertha, age 20, Edwin, age 18, Alfred, age 15, and Benjamin, age 12, all born in Oregon. 
1930 OR CENSUS  - Franklin, age 69, b. Wisconsin (both parents b. Germany), is eumerated with wife Hannah Herrling, age 68, b. Wisconsin (both parents b. Germany).

BIOGPHICAL (Source - Franklin Herrling, 2009):
Franklin was born in Greenbush, WIsconsin on 25 Aug 1860. His father, Theodore Herrling, owned as sawmill which produced most of the lumber for the roads in the area.  They used the lumber to plank the roads.
When Franklin was 14, his mother Wilhelmina, took him and two of his sisters to Oregon.  His [parents were having troubles so his mother decided to leave.  Franklin didn't want to go but his mother insisted].
They took the train from Greenbush, Wisconsin to Salem, Oregon.  Franklin ended up taking care of his mother until her death in 1895.  Franklin would make several trips back to Greenbush to see his father and siblings.  On one of these trips he met Hannah Mathes and they were married 3 Jan 1882.
Franklin and Hannah had five sons and four daughters and lived in Stayton until around 1920 when they purchased a house at 2345 Rex street and acreage in Salem.
Franklin owned timber land, a sawmill, a cheese factory, and other interests in the Stayton area.
Upon his death Franklin left about 80 acres of timber land to each of his children.
Franklin passed away 17 Apr 1841 in Salem, Oregon.

Germany), maiden name of mother Wilhemina Schlegel (b. Germany), interment 19 Apr IOOF, undertaker Barrick, informant Bertha R. Kirsch of Maupin, Oregon.
OBITUARY: 
Franklin Herrling at a local hospital April 17, at the age of 80 years. Late resident of 2345 Rex street. Survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Kirsch of Maupin, Oregon, Mrs. Amanda Apple of Albany; three sons, Otto and Ed Herrling of Maupin, Alfred of Bend; nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 19 at 3:30 p.m. from the Clough-Barrick chapel. Interment in the IOOF cemetery. Rev. Guy L. Drill officiating.
