1880 OR CENSUS - John Hixon, age 38, occupation teamster, b. Missouri, is enumerated within the household of his brother, Len, age 35, occupation teamster, b. Missouri, and Len's wife Carloline, age 19, b. Wisconsin.
Note: The obituary of his sister, Mary Hixson Watkinds, and the DC of his brother, Leonard, give the name of their father as Andrew Hixson.

OBITUARY: 
In Salem, on the night of Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1891, after an illness of two years, from consumption, John W. Hickson, aged 50 years. Deceased was a brother of Mrs. W. H. Watkins, of Salem; Miss Julia Hickson, Mrs. D. M. Watkins, and Mrs. Charles Price, of Portland. The funeral will be conducted today from the house of L. B. Hickson, on Prison avenue, the services at the grave being private.
