Jun 1831 in New York, is enumerated with his wife of 38 years, Anna, age 58, mother of 7 children, 6 of whom are living at the time of the census, b. Maryland, along with Fannie, age 26, b. May 1875 in Oregon, Ida, age 24, b. Jan 1876 in Oregon, and George S., age 22, b. Oct 1877 in Oregon.

At their home four and one half miles south of Salem, Oregon, October 4, 1910, the 50th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. G. O. Higgins was celebrated.  Mr. Higgins was born June 9, 1831, in Syracuse, N.Y., and came to California March 15, 1855, by way of the Isthmus of Panama.  He was married to Miss Anna Stuart, who was born in Maryland, January 23, 1841, and crossed the plains with her parents in 1848.  The marriage took place at Sacramento, California, October 4, 1860, at her father's home.  They moved to Marion county, Oregon, south of Salem, in 1869, where they have lived since.  They have seven children, six living, five girls, two boys, and two grandchildren, as follows:  Mr. and Mrs. Phil M. Gilham and two children, Willamina, Oregon; Mr. and Mrs. O.M. Jones, Seattle, Washington; Miss Emma M. Higgins, Kelso, Washington; Mrs. Fannie C. Chymer [Clymer], Tacoma, Washington, amd Miss Ida May Higgins, who lives with her parents, as does Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Higgins.  Amos Henry Higgins, the eldest son, died.  The following guests were present: Mrs. and Mrs. J. B. Parker, Independence; Dr. and Mrs. D. F. Lane, Salem; Mr. Ed Croisan, Salme' Mr. and Mrs. Charley W. Barr, Salyem [Salem]; Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Ramsden, Salem; Mr. L. Huddelson, Salem; Mrs. M.C. Lewis, Salem.

OBITUARY: 
At the family residence south of Salem, Monday, February 17, 1913, George O. Higgins, aged 81 years 8 months and 8 days. The deceased was born June 9, 1831 in Syracuse, N. Y., coming to California March 15, 1852, the trip being made by way of the Isthmus of Panama. He was married at Sacramento, California to Miss Anna Stewart, October 4, 1860, at the home of her father. They moved to Marion county in 1869 and have since resided south of the city.
Mr. Higgins leaves a wife and six children, Mrs. Phil M. Kilham, Willamina; Mrs. O. M. Jones, Salem; Mrs. L. F. Clymer, Auburn, Washington; Miss Emma Higgins , Miss Ida May Higgins and George S. Higgins; three grandsons; a brother, Charles H. Higgins, in Syracuse, N. Y.; one nephew and two nieces in Syracuse.
Funeral services will be held at the home Thursday morning, February 20, at 10 o'clock.

The funeral of G. O. Higgins was held at the residence, on the river road, yesterday afternoon, Rev. P. S. Knight of this city having charge. Services at the grave were in charge of the Odd Fellows, of which lodge the deceased was a member. A trio consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Morrison Reid and William Ketchum sang two selections at the grave. The following members of the I. O. O. F. acted as pallbearers: J. A. Patterson, James Mothorn, J. W. Roberts, Amos Vass, C. O. Engstrom and Joseph Martin. Burial in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
