OBITUARY:
FUNERAL -- The funeral of Miss Lena L. Hirons took place yesterday, at 10. a.m., from the residence of S. D. Gibson, across the river one mile from the ferry. She had but a few months ago come from Illinois, where she had formerly lived with her grandmother, the mother of Mr. Hirons and Mrs. Gibson. The son and daughter went to Illinois last fall to visit their aged mother, and while they were there she died. Miss Hirons then returned with her father and aunt to Oregon, and on the journey she contracted a severe cold from which she never recovered. It was thought her death was the result of hasty consumption. She was able to be about however, all the time--getting up even on the day of her death, Saturday. The funeral services was conducted by J. W. Spriggs, pastor of the Christian church, of this city. Interment in the Odd Fellows' cemetery.
