DEATH CERTIFICATE:

OBITUARY: HITCHENS - At the family home, corner High and Union streets, Salem, Oregon Sunday, November 17, 1901, Samuel J. Hitchens, aged 30 [sic] years.
Deceased was a barber, and followed his profession in Portland until last spring, when, on account of some stomach trouble, he became incapacitated. The physicians gave him up, and he came home to die last May, lingering until last Sunday, when he passed away as indicated above.
Deceased was born at Mineral Point, Wis., July 3, 1861. He was a brother of Mrs. Wm. Staiger of this city. The funeral will be held from the family home, northwest corner High and Union streets, this (Thursday) afternoon, at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be had in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
