Jan 1855 in Ohio, occupation farmer, along with children Guy N., age 14, Katie D., age 12, and Grace M., age 5, all born in Oregon.
BIOGRAPHICAL: Came to Oregon in 1872, sellling in Fox Valley, m 1884, later taking a donation land claim near Mehema. Howell School near Mehama was named for family, as Mr. Howell donated land for school. Mr. Howell died in 1907. (From note in Golden records)

OBITUARY: Mrs. Amy N. Howell, late resident of 149 W. Lefelle st., February 4 at the age of 90 years.
Survived by daughters, Mrs. Katie Uhrig and Mrs. C. L. George, both of Sherwood; son, Guy N. Howell, Salem; three grandsons, Kermit M. Uhrig, C. OL. George, Jr., and John R. George, all of Sherwood.
Services will be held Friday, February 10, at 2:30 p.m. at the V. T. Golden mortuary. Interment will be in the IOOF cemetery. The Rev. G. W. Turner will officiate.

Final Rites for Mrs. Howell Set Saturday Final rites for Mrs. Amy N. Howell, an Oregon resident for 75 years who died here Saturday, will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the V. T. Golden chapel. The Rev. G. W. Turner will officiate. Interment will be in the IOOF cemetery.
Born Sept. 11, 1857, at Eldon, Iowa, the deceased came to Oregon in 1870 with her parents, Harry and Melissa Nelson. The family settled in the Fox Valley community where Mrs. Howell was married in 1884 to John M. Howell, who died in 1907. Surviving Mrs. Howell, who lived recently at 149 W. Lefelle st., are two daughters, Mrs. Katie Uhrig and Mrs. C. L. George, both of Sherwood; a son, Guy N. Howell of Salem; and three grandsons in Sherwood.
