Howard of 757 Center St. Salem.
OBITUARY: 
Faithful Colored Servant Dies
"Mammy," the aged colored servant whom the D. I. Howard family brought from the south a year ago, died yesterday at a local hospital, after twenty years of faithful service in a family where she was much respected. Her unexpected death has brought a shock of grief to her employers. Although 72 years old, who was well and hearty until a short time ago, when she was injured by a fall, resulting in paralysis. Every attention was given her and hopes were entertained up to her death of her recovery. Mammy's real name was Mrs. Martha Barker and her only relative is a daughter, Julia, in Mississippi, well past the half century mark, whom she had not heard from for some time. The funeral services will be held from the Terwilliger Cottage undertaking parlors today at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Carl H. Elliott will officiate. Interment will be in Odd Fellows' cemetery.
