OBITUARY: 
GRANDDAUGHTER of TERRITORIAL GOVERNOR DIES. 
Mrs. Archie Gaines Job, 96, granddaughter of a former Oregon territorial governor and resident of this state her entire life, died Wednesday at a Salem nursing home. 
Her grandfather, John Pollard Gaines, was territorial governor from 1849 to 1853. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Gaines; the mother being the daughter of Jesse Looney, who crossed the plains to Oregon in 1843. 
Born March 7, 1858, Mrs. Job later married Japhin Job and the couple spent their early life at Corvallis, where he was associated in the Hamilton and Job bank. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons. 
Mrs. Job was a charter member of the Corvallis Women’s Club and Eastern Star. She was long a member of the Christian Science Church. 
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Hattie Sims, Portland; two brothers, Chester Gaines and Richard Gaines, both of Albany; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Christian Science funeral services will be held at the W. T. Rigdon chapel Saturday at 1:20 p.m. Interment will follow at Pioneer Cemetery.

Late resident of 173 S. Cottage St. In this city, Sept. 22. Survived by sister, Mrs. Hattie Sims, Portland; brothers, Richard L. Gaines and Chester B. Gaines, both of Albany. 
Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 1:30 p.m. in the W. T. Rigdon Chapel. Services will be conducted by a fellow-member of the Christian Science Church, who will read passages from the Bible and Science and Health, with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
