OBITUARY: 
JORDAN--At the family home, Molalla, Or., Wednesday, August 23, 1905, John D. Jordan, of senile exhaustion, aged 76 years. 
In the death of John D. Jordan, as per the above notice, the state of Oregon loses one of its most prominent and progressive citizens and the city of Salem one of its former most respecyted and honorable residents. Deceased was born in Illinois February 14, 1829, and came to Oregon in 1852, settling at Albany. He came to Salem four years later and remained here engaging in the harness business until 1862, when he removed to eastern Oregon. He lived there five years and finally returned to Salem. He resided here until six years ago, when he went to Mollala and lived there until the time of his death. 
He was married in this city to Helen Schwatka, sister of the noted Arctic explorer, from which union one son, Harvey S. Jordan was born, whose present address is Seattle.
The remains are expected to arrive in this city this morning, in which event they will be taken to the undertaking parlors of A. M. Clough, and the funeral services will be held at the graveside.

LAST SAD RITES. Funeral of Late John Jordan of Molala, Held in This City Yesterday. 
A large delegation of friends gathered at the Southern Pacific passenger depot yesterday morning to receive the remains of the late John Jordan of Molalla, Clackamas county, which were brought to this city on the 11 o'clock train from Oregon City for burial. The funeral services were held at the gravesides by Rev. P. S. Knight. The remains were brought to Salem by H. S. Jordan of Seattle, the only son of the deceased, who was an old time resident and businessman of this city.
