MRS. JORY'S FUNERAL to be SATURDAY
Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Emma Jory, 81, of Salem, who died Wednesday, will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at W. T. Rigdon's Funeral Home, Rev. Boone White officiating. Burial will be in Salem Pioneer Cemetery.
Mrs. Jory, of 425 E St. NE, was born Oct 23, 1879, in Phillips County, Kansas. She came to Salem in 1893 with her parents and was married in 1907 in Salem to Edwin A. Jory, who died in 1957. She was a member of the Morningside Methodist Church, a 40 year member of the Chemeketa Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Interested in Oregon history, she furnished one room of the Newell home at Champoeg which the DAR is restoring, and also provided a parlor set for Bush House Museum. In 1952 Edwin and Grace Jory donated 26 acres of the William Jory land claim in the Rosedale district south of Salem to the South Salem Area Chamber of Commerce for development as a park. The Chamber deeded the land over to the Marion County Park and Recreation Commission in March, and the site is scheduled to be developed shortly. Survivors include two brothers, J. F. Goode and W. M. Goode, Salem; a sister, Mrs. Stella Moore, Vancouver; and a step-son, Victor Jory, Los Angeles.
