DEATH CERTIFICATE:
OBITUARY:
Frank Kellogg, Too.
Frank Kellogg, an old resident of Salem, died at the Portland Sanitarium Sunday, March 8, 1903, after an illness of about two and a half years. Mr. Kellogg has been ailing for a much longer period of time, but about two and a half years ago he began suffering from hip disease, and last week underwent an operation from which he never recovered, passing away Sunday morning.
Deceased was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1848. He received his early education in the public schools, and in Cleveland Academy, and afterward graduated from the Troy Polytechnic School, of Troy, New York. He followed civil engineering for several years in Texas and Colorado and in 1883 came to Oregon and took up the study of law. After being admitted to the bar he practiced law in Heppner, Eastern Oregon, for ten years, and in 1895 came to Salem, where he became a law partner of W.H. Holmes. He kept up his law practice in this city until his health failed, when he moved to the Miller farm, near Hopewell, where he devoted his time to farming, and built up a successful and well equipped dairy and stock ranch.
No children are left, but his wife remains to mourn the sad loss.
Deceased was a devout Christian and a member of the Episcopal church. He belonged to the Masons in Heppner. but did not affiliate with that order in this city.  He was a member, in good standing, of Willamette Tent No. 6 Knights of the Maccabees, in which he carried a life insurance policy of $3,000.
The body came to Salem last night on the 6:19 train and the funeral will be held at 1:30 today at the home of his father-in-law, William Miller, corner of Court and Cottage streets. Interment will be made in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
