OBITUARY: 
At the Salem Hospital, Wednesday, January 19, at 7:30 p. m. Chas. A. Battey, aged 70 years. The deceased was born in Canada, but for 30 years has been on the Pacific coast. For six years he has been employed on the farm of the Hon. E. M. Croisan, and by his quiet demeanor has made many friends. He recently underwent a surgical operation, but failed to regain his health. The funeral will be held at 2 0'clock today from the undertaking parlors of A. M. Clough. Interment will be made in the I. O. O. F. cemetery. Daily Oregon Statesman 20 Jan 1910 5:6.
