OBITUARY: 
SUDDEN DEATH OF AN OLD SETTLER. 
CIVIL WAR VETERAN WAS CALLING ON FRIEND WHEN HE WAS SUDDENLY STRIKEN. 
Was Visiting in the Office of John Savage Where He Expired Just As the Doctor Arrived.
Served Through the Civil War in the Navy. 
In Salem, Oregon, Friday, June 5, 1908, Samuel Lindsey, aged 73 years. The death of Mr. Lindsey was sudden. He had called on John Savage, Jr., in his rooms over the Red Front drug store at about 10 o'clock. They were talking pleasantly, when Mr. Lindsey said he felt sick and was invited to lie on the lounge, while Mr. Savage went to call Dr. J. Reynolds. Before the doctor arrived from his residence, Mr. Lindsey was dead. The cause was neuralgia of the heart. 
Mr. Lindsey had resided in Salem for about five years, and was a familiar figure on the streets. He served in the navy during the war, and was about to receive a pension. The funeral will be held a Clough's undertaking parlors at 2 o'clock this (Saturday) afternoon, Rev. P. S. Knight officiatiing. Burial in I. O. O. F. cemetery.
