OBITUARY: 

Mrs Mary Long, Salem native whose parents Mr and Mrs George Bressler were early pioneers here, died Monday at a Salem nursing home at the age of 89. She had been in nursing homes for about 10 years. Prior to that she was employed as a cook in Portland and other areas. Her parents came by boat around the Horn and settled in Salem at the west end of Miller Street, near South River Road. They had a farm on nearby Minto Island, and Bressler also did carpenter work. Mrs Long was born here Jan 1, 1877. Survivors include a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews in Salem who said a son, Kenneth Long may still survive but the last contact with him was several years ago when he was living at The Dalles. Services are pending at W.T. Rigdon mortuary.
