OBITUARY: FOUND DEAD.
Nathan P. Mack, an old man aged 78 years, was found dead in his home on North High street yesterday morning by Fisher Boise, who made his customary visit to supply him with milk. He has lived alone there several years and has been an invalid a greater part of the time on account of old age. When found, he was lying of the floor, where it is presumed he had fallen immediately after eating his supper. At it was evident the old man had died from natural causes, County Judge Hubbard did not deem it necessary to hold an inquest and the remains were interred in Rural cemetery yesterday afternoon. Deceased came to Oregon in '47 and settled near Oregon City. Some years later he came to Salem and for a long time supported himself from the proceeds of a little truck garden. Becoming unable to work he was taken care of by the county for a while, and at the time of his death was receiving help from W. L. Wade and Judge R. P. Boise. The deceased is understood to have relatives in the East, but very little is known of them.
