OBITUARY:
John E. Maybee
Taken By Death Here Thursday
Coming as a shock to his many friends was the death early Thursday of John E. "Uncle John" Maybee at the home of his sister Mrs. Bertha Woodworth on South 19th street. He died apparently peacefully in his sleep during the night, and his death was not discovered until the breakfast hour.
Maybee had been in good health and his death was unexpected. He was born in New York and has lived in the west for the past [can't read the number] years, coming to Salem four years ago. He was 72 years old.
Besides the sister, Mrs. Woodworth, he leaves a daughter Margaret, and another sister, Mrs. G. F. Johnston.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Terwilliger funeral home with interment in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
