OBITUARY:

Mrs. H. K. McCully, one of the old pioneers of Oregon and widely known throughout the Willamette valley, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. B. Crossman, in Portland, Monday evening, July 31, 1905, aged 77 years, of paralysis.
Deceased came to this county in 1853 with her husband across the plains and settled in Linn county. Later on they moved to Salem, where her husband, with the late E. N. Cooke and Stephen Church operated a line of steamers between Portland and Salem in anti-railroad days.
After the death of her husband, over 15 years ago, she continued to reside here, until a few years ago, when she went to Portland to live with her daughter, Mrs. Croasman, who at one time also lived here.
She was one of the best known and highly respected women of the state. She was a member of the Christian Science church, and a woman of lovely character and disposition. She leaves numerous relatives, among them in this city, being Mrs. E. E. Waters, a sister-in-law; Mrs. A. N. Gilbert and Mrs. Mary Creighton, nieces, and Uncle David McCully, brother-in-law.
The remains will be brought to this city Thursday morning on the 11 o'clock train, and the funeral services will be held at the grave immediately upon the arrival of the train.  The interment will be in the I. O. O. F. cemetery. Rev. P. S. Knight will have charge of the service.

McCully arrived in this city from Portland on the 11 0'clock train yesterday morning and were taken direct to the Rural cemetery, where after a simple but impressive funeral service performed by Rev. P. S. Knight, they were consigned to their last resting place beside those of the deceased lady's husband.  Among the party numbering nearly twenty which accompanied the remains from Portland, were the following relatives of the deceased:
A. B. Croasman and family, (Mrs. Croasman being a daughter of the deceased), Mrs. A. M. Crane (also a daughter) and her daughter; A. L. McCully, a son, with his family; Dr. Clarence Crane of Boston; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Crane, Mr. and Mrs. F. P. [sic - P. P.] Dabney, all of Portland, also J. D. McCully of Joseph, Wallowa county.
The party was met at the train by a large number of old-time Salem friends, who also accompanied the party to the cemetery.  The pallbearers were: G. P. Litchfield, E. M. LaFore, P. H. Raymond, A. N. Moores, Claud Gatch and G. H. Burnett.
The high esteem in which the departed lady was held in life by her friends was reflected by the many floral pieces which bedecked the grave.
