OBITUARY:
DEATH of an ESTIMABLE LADY
Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Flint started East to attend the general assembly of the Presbyterian church. When they arrived at Portland, Mrs. Flint took seriously ill at the St. Charles Hotel, and her life for a time was in immediate danger, but she finally rallied and was removed to the residence of Mrs. Smith Kearney. Mrs. R. H. Dearborn, her daughter, was with her all the while, and Thursday evening she wrote to her husband in this city that her mother was much better and would probably be able to proceed on her journey to Saratoga by Monday next. Her condition must have changed for the worse very suddenly, for yesterday soon after reading the letter stating she was better, Mr. Dearborn was shocked to have it followed by a telegram that she had died at 10 a.m. yesterday.
The remains will be brought to Salem on the morning train, and due announcement will probably be made of the funeral, which will take place here. She has three children living -- Mrs. Dearborn and Mrs. Swick, of Salem, and S. C. Flint of Roseburg. Mrs. Flint was an estimable lady, a consistent lifelong Christian, and her loss will be deeply lamented by all.
