OBITUARY: 

McFADDEN- Mrs. John (Katherine Haverfield). At home on North Capital street, at 5:30 a. m., Friday, August 28, 1891, after a protracted illness, Mrs. Katherine McFadden, aged 71 years. Mrs. McFadden, whole maiden name was Haverfield, was born near Cadiz, Ohio, in 1820. There she made her home during childhood and early womanhood and in 1847 was married to John McFadden, who survives her. Together they removed to Oregon in 1870 and soon after their only child, a daughter, died, leaving two sons. One of these returned to the East with his father and the younger, Fred Stewart, made his home with Mr. and Mrs. McFadden. Deceased was a devoted member of the Presbyterian church during her life and led an earnest Christian life and died surrounded by friends. She was an aunt of Mrs. M. A. Thompson,of this city, who ------by her bedside -------- the ------ illness. The funeral was conducted from the family home Sunday at 2 p. m., by Rev. Gwynne, and the remains will be given interment in the Rural cemetery.
