1880 CENSUS - Geo. W. Mothorn, age 55, farmer b. Tennessee, is enumerated with wife Elizabeth Mothorn, age 55, b. N. Carolina,along with their children, Mary M., age 31, b. Indiana, James A., age 23, b. Iowa, Maria, age 19, b. Iowa, and George W., age 13, b. Iowa.

OBITUARY: 
MOTHORN -- At the family home, four miles south of Salem, at 7:15 a.m., Thursday, February 11, 1892, from la grippe, George Mothorn, aged 67 years. Deceased was taken sick two weeks ago, but it was only a few days ago that his illness displayed a serious turn. Mrs. Mothorn was sick at the same time and died Wednesday and was buried at Salem yesterday. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Morthorn, George, is also now quite ill from the same complaint, J. N. Robertson, a son-in-law, is also very sick. As with the others, la grippe is his ailment. 
Mr. Mothorn came to Oregon in 1875 and has ever since made his home in the vicinity of Salem, being a highly respected farmer who held the respect of all who knew or had dealings with him. Deceased leaves seven sons and daughters to mourn his death, as follows: Mary, at home; David, in California; Julia O'Neil, in Missouri; Mrs. Jacob Staley, Salem; J.A. Mothorn, Salem; Mrs. James N. Robertson, Salem, and George Mothorn, at home. The funeral will be conducted from the residence today at 10 o'clock, the remains being interred in the Rural cemetery in this city.
