Polk County Observer, Thursday, August 30, 1923, 7:5-6
Mrs. Wm. A. Mott died Friday, August 24, at 7:10 pm from pneumonia, and the funeral was held Sunday from the local chapel, with interment in the IOOF cemetery at Salem.
Mrs. Mott was but a little more than 17 years of age, and had only been married to Mr Mott since July 14, 1923, following which she and her husband made an extensive automobile trip. They returned to Dallas and settled down.
Saturday, August 18, she was taken violently ill and was alone for some hours and until the return of her husband from his place of business. The illness developed into pneumonia. Although the patient seemed to be improved at times the sad end came Friday.
Mrs. Mott’s maiden name was Gladys Weaver, and besides a heart broken husband she leaves to mourn her passing, her mother, Mrs. Chester Ralph of Dallas; a sister, Mrs Everett Arnold of Independence, and a young sister and brother at the Ralph home in Dallas.
