DEATH CERTIFICATE:
OBITUARY:
Louis Nelson, Known to Early Risers Who Frequented Old White Restaurant Here Generation Ago, Heart Attack Victim.
"Sick, sick", was all that Louis Nelson could say yesterday morning when D. D. Dotson, manager of the state employment office, went to Nelson's little shack at 251 Court street to find out why he had not shown up for his usual sweeping out chores at the employment office. He put his hand over his heart as he muttered, "sick, sick". Half and hour later Louis Nelson, or Nillson - was dead. He died of a heart attack while on his way to a hospital in an ambulance.
Well-known to early risers of ten years ago and earlier who went to the old White House restaurant for coffee in the morning hours was Louis Nelson. For 25 years Nelson was a sort of second cook, bottle-washer and general roustabout about the old White House. Although well-known to many, few knew him well. The old man, white haired and usually clad in striped overalls, had few intimates and no known relatives. Voluntary Janitor.
For the past four and a half years Nelson was on relief but kept his hands busy by serving as a voluntary janitor for the state employment service. Always the first to get there in the morning his failure to appear yesterday made Dotson suspicious that the old man was not well. He went to his little shack and found him near death. Three doctors attended him but to no avail. No money and little of value was found in the old man's personal effects. Even his name was somewhat of a mystery for it was spelled three different ways in the three places it was found among his belongings. When asked how old he was the old man had always answered that he was 50, but that was the age given on a driver's license of 1925, found among his effects. Dotson estimated that he was somewhere between 60 and 70 years old.
