Adam Ohmart, age 75, died at the family residence. Survived by the widow, Mrs. Velleda W. Ohmart, and the following children: Roy V., Lois and Reynold W., all of Salem and Chauncey S. of Toledo.
Funeral Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 1:30 p.m. from Rigdon's mortuary chapel, Rev. S. Darlow Johnson officiating. Interment I.O.O.F. cemetery.

PIONEER OF SALEM DIES AT AGE OF 75. Adam Ohmart, resident of Salem since 1875, died at his home a short distance south of Salem Tuesday morning at the age of 75 years and three months after a lingering illness of eight months' duration. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Rigdon mortuary, Rev. S. Darlow Johnson officiating. Interment will be made at the IOOF cemetery.
(Section in microfilm unreadable) Oct. 29, 1854, the son of Christian and Eve Ohmart, pioneers of Ohio and Indiana. When he was 10 years old, his parents moved to Illinois when that state was being colonized and settled at Verdun about 30 miles south of the state capital, Springfield. Here he spent his boyhood until 1875 when he came to Oregon by way of San Francisco, reaching Portland by boat and from Portland to Salem by train. The terminal of the railroad was at the fairgrounds at that time. Mr. Ohmart settled south of Salem and engaged in farming.
On April 3, 1877, he was married to Velleda Smith, daughter of Fabritus and Virgilia Smith, pioneers of 1846. Mr. and Mrs. Ohmart have since that time resided continuously south of Salem and for the past 30 years have lived in the home by Fabritus Smith on the crest of the hill just outside of the city limits on the Pacific highway. They celebrated their golden wedding there more than two years ago, on April 3, 1927.
Mr. Ohmart went into the Yukon territory with the Klondyke rush of 1898 whith other Salemites who went at that time and returned twice afterward, spending most of 10 years in and near Dawson during the boom times of the gold rush. He joined the First Methodist church of this city when a young man and remained a member of same until recently when he transferred his membership to the Leslie Methodist church.
Besides his widow, Velleda W., he is survived by three sons, Roy V., and Reynolds W., both of Salem, and Chauncy S., of Toledo, Oregon, and one daughter, Lois Ohmart, of Salem. He also leaves five grandchildren, one brother, Dayton Ohmart, and a sister, Sophia Steele, both of Illinois.
