DEATH CERTIFICATE:
OBITUARY:
In Salem, at the family residence on Liberty street, near Court, at 4 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, 1894, Sampson Jones, in the 74th year of his age.
Deceased had been ill for some months with Bright’s disease.
He was born in Marion county, Ohio, in 1820, and was the first white child born on the "Sandusky plains." He and his bereaved companion crossed the plains in 1861 and settled in Marion county, where they have resided ever since. He was a peaceable, quiet and most excellent citizen, a warm and affectionate friend, and his character was above suspicion or reproach. He was a man of unswerving integrity, and in its best sinse, he was a good and religious man.
His wife, with whom he has lived thirty-five years, and two of his children, Mrs. Samuel Lemon, of Monmouth, and N. D. Jones, of Woodburn, are left to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate husband and father.
