OBITUARY: 

Death Claims W. R. Powers.
William R. Powers, 85, longtime resident of the Hayesville area and formerly a teacher in Marion County schools, died Monday at a Salem hospital after a lengthy illness.
He had lived at 3175 Portland Rd. Powers taught school in this county for more than 25 years and later engaged in farming in the Hayesville sector.
He was born July 11, 1870, at Warrensburg, Mo., and attended Warrensburg Normal School. He came to Hillsboro at the age of 17 with his parents and later moved to Hayesville, where he was married to Ada Byrne, June 15, 1892. The couple observed their 60th wedding anniversary in 1952 and she survives him. Survivors besides the widow are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Virgil T. Golden Chapel, with Rev. Elmer Paulson officiating. Interment will follow at Pioneer cemetery.

William R POWERS -- Late resident of 5175 Portland Road, at a local hospital, April 16. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Ada Powers of Salem. Several nieces and nephews. Services will be held in the Virgil T. Golden Chapel Wednesday, April 18, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Elmer O. Paulson will officiate. Interment in Pioneer Cemetery.
