OBITUARY: Samuel Vance Richardson, 47, died Thursday, November 12, at the Dallas hospital, where he had been critically ill for several weeks. Mr. Richardson had lived in Dallas since last May and had been employed at the Willamette Valley Lumber Co mill. Previously he had worked for several years for Otis Foster on his farm south of Dallas. He was born December 13, 1884, in Tennessee.
Mr .Richardson is survived by three children, Albert and Alvin, ages 13 and 17 of Dallas, and a daughter Alma, age 8, of West Salem; his parents Mr. and Mrs G.A. Richardson of West Salem; four sisters and one brother. One sister, Mrs. Ella Dushane, resides at Amity, and another Mrs. Steven Lee at Wishram, Wash. Two other sisters and the brother live in eastern Oregon.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Henkle & Thomas chapel with Rev I.D. Brown of Sheridan, an old friend of the family, officiating. Burial was in the Salem IOOF cemetery.
