OBITUARY: 
PIONEERS PASS - John H. Lewis and Mrs. Loretta Ross Called--Two of Marion County's Well Known People Will be Laid at Rest by Friends Monday Afternoon--Two Oregon pioneers passed away yesterday in this community. 
One was John H. Lewis, well known Democrat, ex-constable, who died at the age of 78 years, at his home in Salem, 1125 Leslie street, at 1:15 p.m., and the other was Mrs. Loretta Ross at her home on the Silverton road last night at about 8 o'clock. Mrs. Ross' age was 57 years.  Mrs. Ross was the wife of the late Duncan Ross, was born in this city, was a member of the Rebecca lodge and of the W. R. C., and was one of the well known women of the state. Besides her husband she is survived by three sons, W. Clifton Sheldon of Salem, Cress O. Sheldon of Amity, and Hal W. Sheldon of this city; her mother, Mrs. I. Durbin and two sisters, Mrs. L. Bechtel and Mrs. Lela Jerman, both of this city, as well, and two grandchildren, Mary and Russell Hal Sheldon. The funeral services will be held at the home of her mother, Mrs. I. Durbin, 312 Water street, on Monday at 1 p.m.
