His body Mangled--Was Unconscious at Death
Dean Savage, separator tender on the Adam Orey threshing crew, was fatally injured while working with the threshing outfit on the Dunnigan ranch, seven miles east of this city, about 11 o'clock yesterday forenoon. Savage was attempting to adjust a feeder belt on the separator when the accident occurred. He was violently hurled into the machinery and as a result his head was fractured in two places, and his right arm broken in three places, besides receiving other lesser injuries. he was picked up unconscious by his fellow workmen and was removed to the Salem hospital, where he died at 11 o'clock last night. He never regained consciousness.
Immediately after the accident the theshing crew suspended work and as soon as possible medical aid was called. Dr. O. B. Miles responded and, at once seeing the nature of the injuries, ordered the man removed to the hospital. Savage was about 35 years of age and unmarried.
