Henry P. Schaeffer, 87, of 1906 5th St. NE, died Saturday at a Salem nursing home. He was born in Beardtown, Ill., coming to Salem in 1919. He was employed at the Spaulding sawmill until it closed in the mid 30's, when he retired.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Ethel Cameron, Milwaukie, Mrs. Edith Hulen, Monmouth, Mrs. Florence Smith, North Bend, Mrs. Vieve Martin, Stockton, Calif., and Mrs. Catherine Kilgore, Salem; six sons, Floyd, Elmer, and Harold Schaeffer, all Salem, Lloyd Schaeffer, Cottage Grove, and Leonard Schaeffer, Reno, Nev.; 26 grandchildren, and a brother, Clarence Schaeffer, in Illinois.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at W. T. Rigdon Chapel with Rev. Luther Baker officiating. Interment will be at Pioneer Cemetery.
