OBITUARY:

Romelia Gesner was born March 11, 1854 at Salem, being the daughter of pioneers who crossed the plains during 1845. She was married in 1876 to James M. Munkers at Salem. They made their home at Ashland from 1901 to 1909 and then came to this county where they had lived since, having a finely improved farm just southwest of Brownsville. Mr Munkers passed away in 1915. His parents were also early pioneers, coming across the plains with capt Blakely in 1845. Mrs Minkers passed away last Saturday morning at 2:30 o’clock, aged nearly 74 years. Funeral services were held at the cemetery at Salem on Sunday at two o’clock, the body being laid to rest in the family plot beside her husband. All the relatives and many of the old time friends were in attendance at the funeral, and Rev F.B. Culver, an old time friend of the family, conducted the services. Mrs Munkers leaves to mourn her loss a daughter Josie, and two sons, Jerry and Gordon, and two step-children, Mrs C.M. Cox of Portland, and Dr Lula Markham of Los Angeles, besides two brothers and two sisters.
